The President Director General of the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN) Dr. DjibrilDiallo participated this Thursday, June 18 in Dakar at the meeting of Resident Representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for the Sahel Region.
This internal meeting enabled the various representatives to redefine the offer in the operationalization of the integrated strategy for the Sahel in order to transform the region for peace and sustainable development (ODD Agenda 2063).
As a leader and an expert on Sahel issues, Dr. DjibrilDiallo was invited by UNDP Regional Director for Africa Ms. AhunnaEziakonwa. He seized the opportunity to make some recommendations to the different representatives on the transformation potential of the Sahel region and strengthen the partnership between ARDN and UNDP.
In this perspective, Dr. Diallo called on UNDP representatives to explore partnerships with the African-American private sector for resource mobilization and investment potential, forging partnerships with young people by targeting, developing new narratives about Sahel, a land of immense possibilities and investments. He also emphasized the global communication strategy for the Sahel, which will then be adapted to the country-specific communication strategy, targeting the right audience to get the message across.
“The UNDP must mobilize these resources to develop new stories about the Sahel, a land of immense opportunities and investment that will be supported by Sahelians and the international community,” said DrDiallo.
At the end of the discussions, the representatives welcomed DrDjibril’s recommendations for a lasting peace in the Sahel.
