New York, 23 December 2024 – The African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Felicite Tchibindat as the Regional Director for Central Africa. With over 39 years of experience in public health, sustainable development, and leadership, Dr. Tchibindat will advance ARDN’s mission to promote the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across Africa and its diaspora.
Dr. Tchibindat recently served as Regional Director ad interim for UNICEF West and Central Africa, coordinating regional programs and providing technical support to 24 countries. She has led impactful initiatives to address development challenges, empower youth, and promote gender equality.
In her new role, Dr. Tchibindat will oversee ARDN’s flagship “Red Card Campaign” to combat gender-based violence, forge partnerships with governments and academic institutions, and promote youth entrepreneurship as entry points towards promoting the SDGs. Based in the Republic of Congo Brazzaville, she will collaborate closely with Dr. Roger Salla Ntounga, ARDN Regional Director for Africa, and Andy Nziengui Nziengui, ARDN Representative for Gabon and Coordinator for Central Africa.
Central Africa faces significant challenges in achieving SDG 5: Gender Equality. Across the region, approximately 40% of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by a partner in their lifetime, with some countries reporting rates as high as 44%. Child marriage remains prevalent, with nearly 40% of girls married before age 18. Women’s political participation is also limited, with women holding less than 15% of parliamentary seats in many Central African countries. These challenges underscore the urgent need for targeted interventions to protect and empower women and girls. The “Red Card Campaign” is pivotal in raising awareness and driving action to combat these injustices.
Dr. Djibril Diallo, President and CEO of ARDN, welcomed Dr. Tchibindat, saying:“Dr. Tchibindat’s extensive experience and unwavering commitment to sustainable development and gender equality make her the perfect fit for this vital role. Her leadership will strengthen ARDN’s efforts to foster partnerships and advance a shared vision for a prosperous future.”
Dr. Tchibindat enthusiastically said, “ I am honored to join ARDN as Regional Director for Central Africa. Together, we will work to empower communities, address critical challenges, and champion the Sustainable Development Goals across the region.”

ABOUT THE RED CARD CAMPAIGN
Women’s rights are human rights. In the game of football (soccer), a red card symbolizes a significant infraction of the rules. ARDN Red Card Campaign seeks to mobilize individuals from all sectors of society to commit to giving a red card to all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls. The Red Card Campaign serves as a powerful reminder that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 is impossible without ensuring the rights to life, health, and physical integrity for all.
