MATY NIANG APPOINTED AS SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER FOR ARDN EDUCATION INITIATIVES IN AFRICA

New York, January 28, 2025 – The African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Maty Niang as the Senior Program Manager for ARDN Education Initiatives in Africa, effective Monday, February 3, 2025. In this pivotal role, Ms. Niang will lead the implementation of ARDN’s education programs across the continent, fostering partnerships with educational institutions, advancing youth capacity-building initiatives, and promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on gender equality and education.

With over a decade of experience in education, program management, and advocacy for gender equality, Ms. Niang brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the African context. Her proven track record in building university partnerships, managing youth-centered initiatives, and advocating for equitable practices in education makes her an invaluable addition to ARDN’s leadership team.

Dr. Djibril Diallo, President and CEO of ARDN, expressed his enthusiasm about Ms. Niang’s appointment:

“Maty Niang’s extensive experience and unwavering commitment to education and gender equality align perfectly with ARDN’s mission. Her leadership will be instrumental in advancing our goal to combat discrimination and empower communities across Africa. We are thrilled to welcome her to this critical role.”

As Senior Program Manager, Ms. Niang will spearhead key initiatives, including strengthening partnerships with TRACE, a global urban musical platform that promotes culture, creativity, and community development, and implementing the Memorandum of Understanding with the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO)-affiliated Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). She will also focus on mobilizing resources, organizing workshops, and fostering youth development programs that address critical issues such as vocational training, climate change, and gender equity.

Ms. Niang shared her excitement about joining ARDN:

“It is an honor to join the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network in advancing its mission to promote education and gender equality across the continent. I am deeply committed to empowering young people and fostering inclusive practices that create sustainable opportunities for all. I look forward to contributing to ARDN’s transformative vision.”

Based in Dakar, Senegal, Ms. Niang will work closely with the ARDN Dakar Office team and report to the Co-Chairs of the ARDN Higher Education Initiative under the oversight of Dr. Roger Salla Ntounga, ARDN Regional Director for Africa.

This role underscores ARDN’s commitment to mobilizing individuals from all sectors of society in the fight against discrimination and violence, particularly against women and girls, as an entry point for the promotion of the SDGS by 2030, a special project of ARDN for the United Nations.

Ms. Niang’s appointment reaffirms the organization’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and creating a more equitable future.
