ARDN participates in the political dialogue on peace and prosperity in the Sahel

14 May (Italy, Bellagio) – The African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN), represented by Dr. Djibril Diallo, is participating in the political dialogue on peace and prosperity in the Sahel from 14 to 17 May in Italy.

Organized by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation, this dialogue will be under the theme “A Land of Opportunity: Defining Contextual and Practical Solutions for Sustainable Peace and Security”. in the Sahel.

This dialogue is an opportunity for ARDN to “Disseminate Sustainable Development Goals in Africa and the Diaspora,” a special project at the United Nations, said Dr. Djibril Diallo, President of ARDN.

According to the UNCCD Executive Secretary, Special Advisor for the Sahel Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw, this dialogue will enable influential leaders, policymakers and experts from government, civil society, private sector and international organizations to explore a new narrative for the Sahel, taking advantage of the incredible opportunities of the region, while recognizing its challenges.

“We aim to identify strategies, technologies, policies and actions to promote inclusive green growth in the region,” said Thiaw.

Growth should simultaneously stabilize vulnerable ecosystems and create jobs and profitable income opportunities for communities too often trapped in poverty, conflict or migration. In this context, we will explore mechanisms for mobilizing resources for sustainable investments and creating dynamic value chains for the private sector.
